Helping Hands

In this enrichment, students will have the opportunity to develop skills in identifying the needs of people and communities. Students will develop a campaign and project that will help others in need. The enrichment is designed to allow students to be selective and creative. At the end of the session, students will have created a project to help their cause.

Students will research various community service agencies in their area, such as homeless shelters, food banks, animal shelters, etc. to determine which organization they would like to help. Upon determining an organization to partner with, students will examine some of the causes that make that particular organization relevant and necessary. Students will realize their ability to positively impact the day-to-day lives of others living in their community.

Participants will discover how meaningful it is to help others. They will enjoy creating community projects that serve and inspire those around them. Helping Hands reinforces lessons in math and language arts and is designed to meet the diverse needs of states that follow Common Core standards, Standards of Learning (S.O.L.s), Social and Emotional Learning (S.E.L.), project-based learning, and STEM education.
