Bucket Drums (I, II)

Rhythm is at the core of all music. No matter the genre of music or type of instrument, rhythm gives the notes life and direction. So it is no wonder why bucket drumming has been so successful in teaching music to kids.
Bucket Drumming, also called street drumming, is a style of music that involves drumming on plastic buckets and other objects to create melodies. The most common object used by bucket drummers are five-gallon plastic buckets, but other objects can be used, including glass bottles, pots, and pans. Bucket Drumming allows students the space to be creative, learn and improve rhythmic and melodic musical skills while giving students an excellent way to learn self-awareness, listening skills, coordination, cooperation, and patience. In addition, bucket drumming can help students feel safe to express negative emotions through the positive channel of drumming.

The Bucket Drumming Enrichment program transforms everyday objects into powerful instruments of rhythm and creativity. Using buckets, sticks, and pure energy, participants will learn the fundamentals of percussion, rhythm patterns, and ensemble performance in a fun, high-energy environment. This hands-on program introduces participants to musical concepts such as tempo, dynamics, and coordination while encouraging self-expression, teamwork, and listening skills. No prior music experience is needed—just a passion for movement and sound! Bucket Drums enhances instruction in music, math, and language arts and is designed to meet the needs of states that follow Common Core standards, S.O.L.s, S.E.L. frameworks, project-based learning, and STEM education.
